Vita

Born in Sardinia, Italian soprano Ilaria Vanacore is distinguished by her warm lyric voice, refined musicality and stylistic versatility across both the operatic and symphonic repertoire. She began studying piano at the age of five and made her public debut only a few years later at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, launching her early artistic career as a concert pianist before turning her focus increasingly toward vocal performance.
She completed her vocal studies with highest honors and special distinction at the Conservatorio of Cagliari and subsequently continued her training at the Accademia del Teatro Comunale Pavarotti in Modena under the guidance of Mirella Freni. Further artistic refinement came through her collaboration with soprano Barbara Frittoli.
In 2017 she won the “Marialisa De Carolis” Competition, which led to her operatic debuts as Elvira in Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri and Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème at Teatro Comunale di Sassari. Since then, she has appeared in a wide range of leading lyric soprano roles including Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata, Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Rosalinde in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus and Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Her repertoire further includes Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Valencienne in Lehár’s Die lustige Witwe and Anaide in Nino Rota’s Il cappello di paglia di Firenze.
Recent seasons have seen her participation in the world premiere of Nicola Campogrande’s La notte di San Nicola at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, as well as her debut for Fondazione Teatro La Fenice in Venice in Respighi’s Maria Egiziaca in a production directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi. International engagements have also brought her back to the role of Violetta Valéry for the Sawakami Opera Foundation in Tokyo.
Particularly active in the concert and symphonic repertoire, Ilaria Vanacore has performed Orff’s Carmina Burana and Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor K.427 with the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with the Roma Tre Orchestra. She recently made her debut at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa in Mendelssohn’s Ein Sommernachtstraum under the baton of Donato Renzetti.
A finalist and prizewinner at numerous international competitions, including the Gaetano Zinetti Competition, the Gigli–Franci Competition and the Concours International de Belcanto Vincenzo Bellini, she continues to develop a career distinguished by both vocal elegance and exceptional musicianship.
Alongside her singing career, Ilaria Vanacore remains an active pianist, performing extensively throughout Europe as both soloist and chamber musician. She additionally holds a Master’s Degree in Chamber Music from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

Reviews

„Soprano Ilaria Vanacore delivers an ecstatic performance of the aria ‚In trutina mentis dubia‘. Her voice is limpid and crystalline, never too loud in volume yet deeply expressive, moving, and harmonious. She is capable of long-sustained pianissimos that remain perfectly audible until the very last note.“

I teatri dell’Est

„Ilaria Vanacore was excellent both vocally and scenically. […] She brought the role to life, sculpting every phrase with perfect articulation.“

Le Salon Musical
