Vita
Nune Grigoryan is an Armenian lirico-spinto soprano whose warm, distinctive voice and expressive stage presence combine naturally with a strong sense of musical and dramatic character. A soloist of the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Yerevan, she has built a versatile repertoire ranging from the bel canto heroines of Donizetti and Rossini to the great lyric roles of Verdi, Puccini and Leoncavallo.
Born in Yerevan, Grigoryan studied Academic Vocal Performance at the Komitas State Conservatory, completing her Bachelor’s degree in 2013 and her Master’s degree with excellence in 2015. Her artistic development was further shaped by her work with the Young Artists Opera Program of the Armenian National Opera, where she was guided by Maestro Levon Javadyan. From 2015 to 2024, she was also a soloist of the H. Paronyan State Musical Comedy Theatre.
Her operatic repertoire reflects a natural progression from the light lyric and bel canto repertoire towards increasingly demanding lyric and lirico-spinto roles. At the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, she has appeared as Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata, Mimì in Puccini’s La Bohème, Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly and Zemfira in Rachmaninoff’s Aleko. Her more recent role debuts include Liù in Puccini’s Turandot, Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen and Nedda in Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci. The repertoire ahead includes Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello and further exploration of the dramatic soprano repertoire.
Grigoryan has also appeared in concert repertoire, including J. S. Bach’s Magnificat, performed with the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia and the Yerevan State Chamber Choir under the baton of Gianluca Marcianò. Her artistic work is characterized by a particular sensitivity to text and phrasing, a warm and luminous timbre, and an ability to combine vocal elegance with a compelling dramatic presence.
Her musical education has been enriched through masterclasses with internationally renowned artists and vocal specialists including Barbara Frittoli, Massimiliano Bullo, Orlin Anastassov, Montserrat Caballé, Gegham Grigoryan, Liana Aleksanyan, Lianna Harutyunyan and Hasmik Papyan.
With her growing repertoire and increasing focus on the Italian and French lyric and lirico-spinto traditions, Nune Grigoryan is developing into a versatile soprano with a distinctive artistic profile and a particular affinity for roles that unite vocal warmth, emotional depth and dramatic intensity.
