Tovmas Tovmasyan

Armenian baritone Tovmas Tovmasyan combines the warmth of a lyric voice with an innate sense of musical style, bringing elegance, sincerity and dramatic sensitivity to the Mozart and Italian lyric repertoire. His artistic profile spans opera, concert and song, reflecting a growing affinity for the lyric baritone repertoire from Mozart and Rossini to the Italian belcanto tradition.

A member of the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Yerevan, Armenia’s leading opera house, Tovmas Tovmasyan made his company debut in 2026 as Silvio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci in Mario Acampa’s new production under the baton of Karen Durgaryan. This company debut marks the beginning of his collaboration with Armenia’s foremost operatic institution and an important step in the development of his professional career.

Whilst still a student, he performed the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Figaro in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, demonstrating an early affinity for the lyric baritone repertoire.

A graduate of the Komitas Yerevan State Conservatory, where he obtained his Master’s degree in Classical Voice, Tovmas Tovmasyan further broadened his artistic horizons through a six-month exchange programme at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania. During this period, he performed with the Kaunas State Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of John Fisher and presented concert repertoire including excerpts from Don Carlo, Andrea Chénier, Lucia di Lammermoor and Tigran Chukhadjian’s Arshak II.

A prizewinner in several national and international vocal competitions, he was awarded First Prize at the prestigious International Romansiada Competition.

Alongside his operatic engagements, Tovmas Tovmasyan continues to cultivate an extensive concert repertoire while steadily expanding his operatic roles across the lyric baritone repertoire.
